Rebates and incentives available in NSW
The following rebates, incentives, schemes, and programs are available from NSW government.
Household energy rebates and incentives
- Battery Incentive: Provides discounts for the installation of battery storage in homes with existing solar systems or when installing a new solar system. The financial incentive varies according to the storage capacity of the battery. Read more about the NSW Battery Incentive.
- Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Incentive: Offers incentives for connecting existing batteries to a VPP. Eligible applicants will receive between $120 and $400.
- National Energy Bill Relief for households and small businesses: All NSW households and small businesses are eligible for a one-off payment, up to $300 for homes and up to $325 for businesses, to help with energy bills.
- Family Energy Rebate: NSW households receiving the Family Tax Benefit can apply for a rebate of up to $250 to help reduce energy costs.
- Seniors Energy Rebate: Designed specifically for NSW seniors to help lower their electricity bills with a payment of $250.
- Medical Energy Rebate: Assists households with individuals who have a medical condition that requires the use of energy-intensive equipment. The rebate is $350 per eligible household per financial year.
- Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) Scheme: Offers emergency vouchers for households unable to pay their electricity or gas bill due to a crisis or emergency.
Energy efficiency programs
- Appliance Replacement Offer: Helps replace old, inefficient appliances with new, energy-efficient models at a discounted price. Replace your old hot water system with a heat pump hot water system. Read more about the NSW Heat Pump Incentive.
- Energy Saver Scheme: Provides rebates for implementing energy-saving upgrades, such as improved insulation, energy-efficient lighting, and more.
Renewable energy initiatives
- Solar for Low Income Households: Provides financial assistance to help low-income households install solar panels.
- Solar Communities Program: Offers grants to community organizations to install solar power and battery systems.
Electric vehicles (EV) initiatives
- EV fleets incentive: The EV Fleets Incentive in NSW provides funding to help eligible businesses purchase battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and smart chargers, reducing the total cost of ownership gap between BEVs and traditional internal combustion engine vehicle
- Electric vehicle destination charging grants: Supports the installation of EV charging infrastructure in public places and businesses.

- Cost of Living Rebate Finder: A tool to help identify all available rebates and concessions that households may qualify for.
- First Home Buyers Assistance Scheme: Provides rebates and assistance for first-time homebuyers.
- Rent Choice Subsidy: Offers financial assistance to help pay for rental housing.
